LEARN TO SAIL IN GREECE - ISTION SAILING SCHOOL
Introduction
Istion SAILING SCHOOL is an American Sailing Association affiliated facility, where first-class tuition is available on first-class yachts in the best sailing area in Med: the Dodecanese Islands in Greece. We have adopted 3 separated progressive Certification Programs, of 7-days live aboard cruise each, aboard one of our 29-50 feet yachts and Catamarans. All courses and examinations are run by ASA qualification instructors. Students receive a Logbook that lists the standards, certification and records sailing experience. Certification through the ASA is a meaningful achievement which is recognized by most charter companies and sailing organizations throughout the world.
Our facilities are based in Kos Island, the heart of Dodecanese, one of the most popular destinations in the Med. Our cruising areas are probably the best in the world in any aspect. Depending on the level and the student’s progress you can start by sailing in the lee of the islands, taking advantage of the local wind consistency (Meltemi) and when experience is being gained, head of the open seas and learn how to make your way in a chop. The Dodecanese is the place of wind perfect.
Our instructors are safety minded, that have to perform themselves every skill they teach you, as they sail throughout the year skippering, teaching or delivering yachts in any weather conditions to any place. Our instructors are not weekend sailors; they are professional seamen logging thousands of miles every year.
Our yachts used as training vessels are in excellent condition, being maintained by professionals, young in age as they are still used in the charter market. Depending on the number of students and the level of the course being taught you will sail in a cruising oriented or a pure performance yacht.
Our Courses being taught follow the American Sailing Association Curriculum. From Novice to Advanced courses are carefully thought out to emphasize in safety features and students needs based on the experience our instructors gained through out the years.
The school that combines all these and is affiliated with ASA, the governing body of Sail Education in the States that carries Coast Guard approval, is ready to welcome you and take care of your training in the best way as well as listen to all your comments at the end of the course.
