ONE WEEK SAILING CRUISE INSTRUCTION Cruising Catamaran (Course 114) The program is 6 days - 7 nights live aboard cruise, on one of our 38-47 feet catamarans. Cruising Catamaran (114) Prerequisites: Basic Keelboat and Basic Coastal Cruising (Courses 101&103). The Bareboat Charter Standard (Course 104) is also a prerequisite and can be attained either by itself prior to BBC Multihull (114) or in conjunction with BBC Multihull (114). In either case, ALL MATERIAL IN BOTH STANDARDS (104 & 114) MUST BE TAUGHT AND TESTED BEFORE 114 CAN BE AWARDED. General Description: An advanced cruising standard for individuals with cruising experience. The individual can act as skipper and crew of a 30-50 foot multihull sailboat by day in coastal waters. The standard includes those skills unique to a 30-50 foot multihull. Price per person sharing a double cabin: Euro 1800. Single cabin surcharge: Euro 750. A minimum of 4 students are required. For groups of 6 persons 15% discount is applied on the above price. Above price includes: Instructor’s fee, Yacht with equipment, course material, taxes, harbour fees, fuel. Above price does not include: Air tickets, transfers, provisions. COURSE LAYOUT FOR CRUISING CATAMARAN 114 Theory: 1. Orientation - Terminology 2. Principals of Structural and Stability – Performance 3. Safety – Advantages and Limitations of a Multihull compared to a Monohull – Minimum Requirements and RCD categories. 4. Heavy weather techniques. 5. Maneuverability. 6. Overall review. 7. Test. Practical Skills: 1. Sail trimming – Sailing on apparent wind 2. MOB drills – differences from a monohull. 3. Cruising – Estimating Leeway and correcting for it. 4,5,6. Cruising – Maneuvering and Docking in different styles and wind configurations. 7. Evaluation.
