Simple, authentic, and deeply rooted in Greek tradition, this dessert is one of the most iconic Mediterranean sweet moments.

Creamy Greek yogurt is combined with golden honey and crunchy walnuts, creating a perfect balance of texture and natural sweetness. It requires no cooking, no preparation stress, and fits perfectly into life on board,whether as a light dessert, breakfast, or afternoon treat at anchor.

This is a classic “Yiaourti me meli” recipe, served in homes across Greece for generations.


Ingredients (for 4 guests)

  • 500g thick Greek yogurt

  • 3–4 tbsp honey (preferably thyme or local Greek honey)

  • 1/2 cup walnuts (lightly crushed)

  • Optional: pinch of cinnamon

  • Method:

    1. Divide the Greek yogurt into serving bowls or glasses.

    2. Drizzle generously with honey over each portion.

    3. Sprinkle crushed walnuts on top.

    4. Add a pinch of cinnamon if desired.

    5. Serve immediately, chilled.

On Board Tip

For an elevated onboard presentation, serve in glassware with layered yogurt and honey for a more “fine dining at sea” feel.

Walnuts can be lightly toasted in a dry pan for extra aroma if galley conditions allow.
