Αdventurous Zakynthos, mythical Ithaca, cosmopolitan Corfu, full of diversity Kefalonia, popular Lefkada, irresistible Paxi; the ionian islands attract luxury and relaxation enthusiasts and of course sailing fans in search of their paradise in the Ionian Sea. Smallest islands as Antipaxi, Arkoudi, Atokos, Ereikousa, Kalamos, Kastos, Mathraki, Othonoi, Meganisi, Skorpios and Strofades add endless sailing options around this fabulous area where the winds are favourable and the anchorages safe.

Looking for lifelong memories? Celebrate exotic beaches...

The beaches of Lefkada - Engremni, Porto Katsiki, Kathisma - and Shipwreck Beach on Zakynthos are famous the world over. Voutoumi and Vrika on Antipaxi are beloved by boat owners, while Schinos on Ithaca is where the elite meet. Myrtos beach in Kefalonia appears on many posters its white crescent lapped by milky blue waters and framed by towering cliffs. And of course Corfu’s much-photographed Paleokastritsa. The Ionian islands have countless other large and small beaches, with a full range of facilities and water sports.
The sea and coast around Zakynthos were picked for Greece’s first marine park. This is where the rare caretta caretta sea turtles lay their eggs especially at Sakania beach, east of Laganas.

Visit impressive medieval and venetian sights

Castles and monasteries, storied buildings and excellent museums are testaments to the rich culture and history of the Ionian islands.

Enjoy extreme sports and sailing

Lefkada draws more and more wind and kite surfers at the Vasiliki and Myli beaches, ranked by some as the best in the Mediterranean. Sailors set off for the nearby islets of Meganisi, Kalamos and Kastos. Antipaxi, Kioni on Ithaca and Kefalonia’s Fiskardo are also beloved destinations for sailing. Indeed, the whole of the Ionian is a magnet to sailors. And for those who love to walk or cycle, each island has well-marked trails through green mountains and varied scenery.

Get surprised with the Ionian culinary flavours

The Ionians stand out for their cosmopolitan and sophisticated tastes. Don’t miss the famous dishes of sofrito and pastitsada, or the locally produced ginger beer, the kumquat liqueur and the nougat delicacy called mantolato.
