Istion's Preveza charter base
A haven of beaches, history and seafood delights
Preveza town is located at the mouth of Amvrakikos Gulf, in Western Greece. It is the capital of Preveza Regional Unit where you will find the local administrative, commercial, cultural and tourist services.
Preveza is an area blessed with beautiful landscapes, green areas, great beaches, a rich history, ancient sites and monuments; in short you will find here numerous options for memorable holidays.
Stroll along the harbour and the old town and see the beautiful traditional buildings; walk on the seaside pedestrian street and enjoy the island-like atmosphere; taste local dishes in a picturesque taverna or coffee shop which line the narrow slab-paved backstreets.
Near Kyani Akti (meaning Blue Coast), there are hot springs you can visit. Paliosaraga is the location’s name, and their waters are beneficial to rheumatism and arthritis conditions.
Marine Location & Services
The city of Preveza is located in the southern part of Epirus, at the entrance of the Amvrakikos Gulf. The marina and the main port is on the Eastern side of the historical city center. Our visitors can visit the Ancient city Nikopolis and its museum which was built by Octavius Augustus in 31BC after defeating Marc Anthony and Cleopatra at the historical battle of Aktion. The remains of the Ancient city are still preserved to this day around 6 km North from the city of Preveza. Many enjoy walking around the picturesque narrow streets of Preveza where they can do their shopping or sit and have a drink or coffee at the scenic Cafés. Preveza is also famous for its traditional taverns which serve exceptional food including local fresh fish, all good prices. Finally, any kind of shop and service can be found near your base and staff members will provide any additional resources and help that you might need.
Transfer to Base
The airport of Aktion- Preveza is located at a distance of 6km from the center and its approximately a 10minute drive. The easiest way for our visitors to reach the base directly from the airport is by taxi. Taxis are easily found at the airport but you could also contact the base management to book one for you. Taxis cost about 25€ total for 4 people, or 40 € total for the 8 person minivan. Ask for the driver to take you to the base of Istion where our staff will be waiting to welcome you.
Arrival to Base
The base manager and the staff members can be found outside the Marcus Café at the main port reserved for the charter boats (on the South side) near the mermaid statue or at our office base.
Visitors can store their luggage and belongings at our offices while their boat is being prepared or they can leave their empty suitcases while they’re sailing. The nearest supermarket is 200meters from the base and they take both cash and credit. During weekdays it’s open from 8am-9pm, Saturdays 8am-8pm but is closed on Sundays. The supermarket of the Preveza Marina is also open on Sundays. On weekdays, groceries can be ordered and delivered by the supermarket at the boat. Breakfast can be enjoyed at many Cafés and restaurants at the city center, including Marcus Café. Gas refills can be done either at the “Preveza Marina” or by delivery at the boat at the Istion base at better prices.
Free parking is available without security. However, Preveza is widely considered a very safe destination.
Renting SUP, Wi- fi routers and fishing rods is always an option for those who are interested.
